5 Reasons Why You Don't Need To Travel Abroad This Summer

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

While so many of us have been waiting to eventually travel abroad, we have forgotten about the beauty of our own country. While the pandemic has given us little to be excited about, it has given us a great opportunity to travel domestically and explore our wonderful country.

If that isn’t enough of an incentive, remember that now is a better time than any to support local businesses as well. If you're in search of a beach holiday, you have some of the continent's best beaches in Cornwall, The Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands. If you are a cultural tourist or into your history, it's easy to forget that actually the United Kingdom has a long and complex history and there are plenty of locations that show it.

1. Excellent UK Alternatives

There are plenty of great places right on our doorstep which means you don’t need to splash out on expensive trips across Europe or around the world. We have one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world in London, Belfast where the Titanic was created, wonderful seaside towns such as Blackpool and Brighton, beautiful countryside getaways and so much more.

2. Save Your Money

Flying and staying abroad can be costly, when you consider flight prices, baggage fees, taxi and transfer costs, eating out, spending money etc. You can enjoy a relaxing getaway for a fraction of the price, and you’ll be amazingly surprised by the outcome. This money can then be saved and used for foreign holidays in the future.

3. Travel Abroad When Restrictions Ease

Travelling to certain countries, especially now that we have left the EU can be tough. Those who are unvaccinated will struggle even more so and will then have the trouble of obtaining PCR tests and panicking about whether or not they will get them back in time or not. As mentioned previously, it's a better time than ever to travel domestically which will then allow you to save your money for when restrictions ease.

4. Go To Places You’ve Never Been Before

Often, us travellers are looking for a new place to explore when considering our holidays. We sometimes spend hours researching new places all over the world, but save yourself the time and effort and visit new places in the country. You may have seen London, Manchester and the Lake District, but why not check out Edinburgh Castle, The Merseyside Docks or the stunning county of Cornwall, for example.

5. Support Local Businesses

The travel and tourism sector is one of the biggest in the United Kingdom, and generates billions of pounds for the British economy. The pandemic has caused a massive destruction to thousands of small businesses all over the country, so by choosing to travel domestically you are helping these companies get back to where they were and thrive again.

We are on a mission to bring to light the beauty of the European continent and it is important to us that we get to showcase the UK. If you do choose to stay in the country this summer, then don’t forget to tag us in your photos on Instagram.
